DO Consider Your Skin Tone
Most makeup artists agree: there’s a dark lip color for every skin tone. The tricky part is finding the right hue for you. Here’s a great guide from Veronica Lorenz, celebrity makeup artist and creator of the beautyblender.
Fair Skin Tone generally looks good in berry or eggplant-purple shades, like Stila Pomegranate Crush Lip and Cheek Stain.
Light Skin Tone can try brick-red shades, like DuWop Private Lipstick – Plum.
Medium Skin Tone can go for slightly darker shades of maroon or burgundy, like jane iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper – Madrid.
Olive Skin Tone can try mahogany, terra cotta or dark mauve, like Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Stain – Envy.
Dark Skin Tone looks great in most dark lip colors, but to make it pop, try Stila Cosmetics Color Balm Lipstick – Gemma.
